A Friendster message about Jesus

Just went through my Friendster inbox. I found this forwarded message about a supposed miracle in Egypt. It was how a man killed his wife and then burried his 8 year old and 5 month daughters alive, together with his dead wife. 15 days later, when the police were able to locate the place and dig out the bodies, they found the girls to be alive. The little girl told everyone about how a man in shiny white clothes with holes in his palms and feet would come everyday dig her and her sister out, give her bread and water, and wake her mother up to nurse her baby sister. Afterwards, the two would be returned to the hole. The man told the girl not to be afraid because they were safe and they would soon be able to permanently leave the hole.

Cool. From the way it was told, you would think it a heartwarming tale of a miracle and how Jesus (the guy in white) came and succored the girls until they could be rescued. Unfortunetly, its not as rosy as a picture as it first appears.

The man supposedly killed his wife because she was reading the bible. The man was muslim. I cant help but think that this as a form of labeling propaganda wherein we (Christians) have this thing for glorifying our religion by using Islam (or whatever other religion is conviniently available) as the bad guys.  It’s sad that we like to think of ourselve as the good ones and the rest of the world as heathens. It’s unfair because when you think about it, we all worship a divine being, it’s just that said being has different names and different traditions. I didnt like the way wherein the message made it look like muslims will kill their family for reading the bible. That’s just a load of crap. Heck, I dont even think the message was real. More likely than not, it’s a form of urban legend.

The message said to forward it to show that I have time for God.

I didnt. I have time for God but not for bullshit.
