Wild Child

Just finished watching this movie entitled “Wild Child”. It’s about this Californian girl who, because of her attitude problems get transferred into this all girl’s boarding school in England. It follows the typical plot wherein the brash, juvenile American comes to a stereotypical high school setting wherein there are bullies, nerds, divas and everything in between.

We all know where this is going. American turns everything upside down, destroys the mega structures that define the stereotype and give everyone American values. End of story.

Can someone tell me why this plot sells? I mean, other than the fact that it caters to mostly an American audience? I cant help but think that movies like these promote only American values and relegate other values into the background. Plots like this emphasize the greatness of said nation while downplaying the systems that are mega structures in other societies. Sad thing here is that we non-Americans are acculturating ourselves with the American dream.

This sucks. X.x
